THE CREATIVE ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS

(CAEP)

About CAEP

The Creative Arts Education Programs is a carefully curated platform that integrates a variety of creative disciplines to educate, empower, mentor, and advocate for young individuals with artistic talents. In Uganda, where there is a 4.47% youth unemployment rate, the National Youth Policy identifies various factors contributing to high youth unemployment, such as a lack of employable and marketable skills, limited access to resources like land and capital, inadequate focus on the informal sector and agriculture, an overemphasis on experience, and a lack of apprenticeship opportunities.

CHALLENGE

Addressing this national challenge, creative skill development for youth emerges as a viable solution. The creative industry in Uganda already employs over 500,000 youths directly and indirectly, with the potential for significant growth if young individuals have access to employable skills in the creative sector.

The Creative Arts Education Programs aims to bridge this gap by offering tailor-made initiatives such as The Creative Arts Fellowship, The Creative Arts Monthly Conversations/Workshops, The Creative Arts Annual Summit, and The Creative Arts Africa Program.

OUR AIM

Through these programs, the Creative Arts Education platform aims to equip young individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to succeed in the creative industry, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the sector while also addressing the issue of youth unemployment in Uganda.

THE CREATIVE ARTS WORKSHOPS

The Creative Arts Workshops are designed as intensive educational programs for a limited group of participants, with a focus on techniques and skills relevant to the creative arts industry. Each session will accommodate a total of 100 attendees and will consist of a half-day event that prioritizes interactivity and engagement. The panels will feature technical experts within specific areas of discussion, providing valuable insights and guidance to participants.
This monthly event aims to bring together creatives from diverse disciplines such as musicians, producers, fashion designers, makeup artists, multimedia producers, and more. Through collaborative discussions and workshops, attendees will have the opportunity to brainstorm and develop solutions to overcome challenges in their respective fields. The conversations will delve into various topics including branding, social media management, financial literacy, legal and compliance, management, communication, public relations, and other relevant areas.
By providing a platform for creatives to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from industry experts, the Creative Arts Workshops seek to inspire innovation, foster creativity, and equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the competitive landscape of the creative arts industry. This ongoing series of events is intended to serve as a catalyst for personal and professional growth, empowering individuals to explore new possibilities and approaches in their artistic endeavors.

The Creative Arts Fellowship Program is designed to offer selected youth participants the opportunity to engage in cultural immersion within the creative arts, expand their professional and personal networks within the industry, gain experiential learning opportunities, and undergo professional development in the creative arts field. This Fellowship initiative will utilize a cohort-based approach, supported by a comprehensive and holistic framework tailored to benefit each creative arts fellow.

The program envisions a real skills incubation process aimed at cultivating highly skilled and professional creatives. With three cohorts planned per year, participants will undergo four months of intensive and hands-on incubation to enhance their creative abilities. The enrollment process for the Fellowship will involve a call for applications, followed by a meticulous selection process to identify the top 50 participants. These selected individuals will then undergo interviews and screening to determine the final 20 fellows who will proceed to the program’s orientation phase.
Through this structured approach, the Creative Arts Fellowship Program seeks to nurture emerging talent, foster creativity, and equip participants with the tools and experiences needed to excel in the creative arts industry. Ultimately, the program aims to develop a new generation of skilled and innovative professionals who will contribute to the growth and vibrancy of the creative sector.
